What is the appropriate age to start waxing?

I recently received an email from UniKWax Centers with their July promotion.

"Celebrate Freedom and Independence All July.  For the month of July girls 15 and under can enjoy their first waxing experience and find it NATURAL, SAFE AND PLEASANT.  50% off all waxing services, all girls 15 and younger, all July Sundays thru Wednesdays"

I was shocked off my seat when I read this.

I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time when I was 22.  I didn't know what a bikini wax was until I was in college and had my first one when I was 25.  My first experience was far from pleasant; even now its tolerable.  There are salons with employees that have been nicer than others and UniKWax is one of the best places for these services.

UniK's position is "not to determine at which age a girl has to wax, that is the parents responsibility."  I don't think there should ever be a sale associated with this service and children.  These types of promotions encourage the over sexualization of young girls.  You only have a short time to be a kid, once you cross the line into adulthood, there's no turning back.  I think it is inappropriate for girls 15 and under to be waxed.  At that age, children should have crazy eyebrows and wear appropriate swimwear for their ages.  If needed, a parent may want to disconnect a unibrow or use a trimmer on those areas outside of a bathing suit but to introduce waxing at such an early age is not right, in my opinion.

What do you think?  Should children under 15 get waxed?
